AIR Signature Programs

Since 1988, AIR has advocated for and supported independent audio storytellers in public radio and podcasting. Our award-winning slate of programs—spanning training, education, mentorship, professional practice and creative collaboration—build upon our ongoing mission: to expand the ecosystem where independents can do their best work, advocate for their needs and build thriving careers.

About AIR

The journalists, podcasters, editors, documentarians, engineers and sound designers who form AIR’s vibrant network of audio makers span the United States and work in dozens of countries. We continually work to meet each of our members wherever you are in your careers, whether you are newly breaking into the industry, on the cusp of launching an independent series, or navigating the institutional complexities of a modern public media workplace.

We invite you to learn more about AIR’s Board of Directors, made up of bold leaders and voices of change in public media and beyond; explore a brief organizational History that dates back to 1988 in New York City; or visit our about page for more on AIR’s mission and the shared values that guide our present and future work.
