AIR’s New Voices scholarship will open up to applications in early June. The program gives 15 emerging audio storytellers up to $1,500 each to attend the Third Coast Conference in November. During the conference, they receive special opportunities for professional development and social networking alongside a cohort of passionate makers with whom they can share inspiration and vision. In the meain time, here are five opportunities to hop on before the deadline:

• Eric Von Reporting Fellowship
Deadline: June 15, 2017
Details: The fellow will receive one year of paid, hands-on reporting experience at Milwaukee Public radio in this program created in remembrance of the late Eric Von, Localore lead producer and creator of “Precious Lives.”

• Rita Allen Fellowship for Science Communication
Deadline: June 30, 2017
Details: Fellows receive $82,000 and a year of Boston-based research into the state of science communication in media, starting January 2018.

• Marguerite Casey Foundation: 2017 Equal Voice Journalism Award
Deadline: June 30, 2017
Details: Emerging and established journalists may apply to receive $2,250 plus up to $1,000 in travel reimbursement to produce “one in-depth story or short series that illustrates how language, culture and race influence public attitudes and policy about poor people.” College-enrolled student journalists are also elligible to apply, and winners from that category will receive $500 and up to $800 for travel.

• 2017 Future of Storytelling Prize
Deadline: July 7, 2017
Details: A $5,000 award will be given to an immersive, narrative-driven project that may include: virtual reality, web content, audio, data, mobile apps, games, or multimedia installations.

• 2017 Third Coast/Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Competition
Deadline (final): July 11, 2017
Details: Up to $4,000 of prizes for excellent audio work produced between July 2015 and July 2017.
