AIR Executive Director Sue Schardt addressed NPR‘s board of directors at its last meeting on February 25, proposing that public broadcasters must step up to a higher sense of purpose in the face of the crisis facing the industry.
“We have arrived at a transformational moment for public broadcasting. We must choose whether to let the forces that are coming towards us define what we will become, or to decide on our own terms what path we take.”
– Sue Schardt
Public media newspaper Current was in the room and published Schardt’s remarks.
[Note: Contrary to some published reports, Schardt is not a member of the NPR board.]
