AIR Elections and Annual Meeting

Hi, AIR friends!

Two important pieces of business from AIR’s Board of Directors: Nominations have opened for three three-year terms on the board, and we have set a date and time for the annual all-members meeting.

This is a membership organization! Your participation is important, so take a few minutes to read this message and mark your calendar.

ANNUAL MEETING

AIR’s 2015 Annual Open Meeting will be a teleconference on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. ET.

Our annual meeting is a time for you to meet your Board members and hear about current programs, elections, and details from our latest survey of AIR producers. Ask questions!

We’re proud to say AIR is growing and changing by leaps and bounds. Our network is more than 1,000 members strong in 46 states and 30 countries. We have a motivated and active Board of Directors, and our working committees are thriving. Come be a part of it, and learn what’s new and how to get more involved.

More information will be coming soon, including the meeting agenda, background materials, and directions for how to dial in for this annual open meeting.  It’s your meeting -– there is no AIR without you!

Please save the date and join us: Oct. 5 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. ET. Instructions for calling in will come in a later email.

2015 BOARD ELECTIONS

AIR’s Board of Directors is accepting nominations to fill three Board seats.

Each year, AIR holds elections for its Board of Directors — a fundamental process that ensures our leadership reflects the diversity of voices, values and interests of the AIR network.

AIR is expanding and growing. In fact, AIR’s year-over-year growth increased by 73% in the first half of 2015 — something we’re very proud of. And we want our Board to continue to reflect the diversity of producers who make up our growing network.

So do you want to be part of something special and innovative?

Maybe you have legal or finance expertise. Perhaps you rock a great podcast. Or maybe you’re an aspiring sound artist or multimedia producer. The priority of the Board and Election Committee is to assemble a ballot of nominees who are diverse ethnically, geographically and generationally and have a breadth of media experience to help us meet the challenges of our ever-changing media landscape.

NOTE: AIR bylaws require a balance of Board members with individual and organizational memberships. This year’s election is open to nominees who hold either. Your dues must be current. Board terms are for three years.

AIR Board Director Laura Starecheski is running as an incumbent, seeking to fill one the three slots for a second term on the board.

If you or someone you know in the AIR network fits the bill, please consider making a nomination. If you want to nominate someone to run, please get his/her permission first. Producers are allowed to self-nominate! You can find the form here.

If you have questions about who qualifies, please contact Bec Feldhaus Adams at rebecca@airmedia.org.

ELECTION COMMITTEE

We’re pleased to announce that AIR members Jed Kim (Environment Reporter for KPCC, AIR New Voice ’12 & served on the Election Committee last year) and Nancy Camden (Independent producer for Wisconsin Public Radio series “Wisconsin Life” & AIR New Voice ’13) will serve on the 2015 Election Committee. We thank them for serving.
