Welcome and Acknowledgements
Dolores Brandon
Executive Director, AIR

Welcome, welcome, welcome... to AIR's first ever, entirely virtual, Annual Meeting 2000.

Let me say at the outset, AIR exists first and foremost as the collective voice for a very special and diverse community of radio makers. With this meeting we the organizers provide a basic platform and theme. But only with YOUR voices raised and bouncing off the cyber walls can we know how good the acoustics of this space really are. "Sing" as long and loud as you like: we are here to listen, here to grow, here to have our voices heard.

Now . . .

Please join me as I thank the incredible band of AIR volunteers who have worked so diligently to create this meeting. First and foremost I offer a huge cyber hug to Rogene Eichler West, AIR's Technical Coordinator extraordinaire. Without Rogene's depth of training and experience, incredible energy, discipline, and generosity of spirit, this meeting quite literally would NOT be happening. Building on the fine foundation laid by Barrett Golding, Rogene has lifted AIR's home in cyberspace to brave new heights.

Late last July, I casually asked Rogene if she thought we could hold AIR's Annual Meeting 2000 on-line at airmedia.org? Without missing a beat, she said - sure! And before I'd even asked she had an infrastructure plan in place!! Amaaazing is too tame a word for what she has accomplished!! Thank you, Rogene!

Working alongside us over the last three months, each adding their own unique brilliance and flair were AIR Board members: Sue Schardt, Tanya Ott, Maureen Jackon, Janet Dagley Dagley, AIR President Steve Rowland and AIR Treasurer, Kathy Gronau. They've given new meaning to the old phrase "Working Board". I cannot stress enough what their help has meant! They are the road come up to meet me, the wind at my back.

Joining this band of dream makers for the meeting today are two more treasured veteran AIR volunteers - Jon Beaupre and Deborah Begel. Thank you, thank you each and all!
