Matthew Payne's Bio

Even a more recent addition to the public radio scene than David, Matt is a 2001 Graduate of Ithaca College with a degree in Television/Radio and International Communications. It is at Ithaca College that Matt first started work on Global Media Generations, a cross-cultural study on the effects of "media events" upon different generations. The findings will be published internationally, March 2003. Jazz/Specialty Director for 92 WICB, where he won a Regional NBS award for his "Buddy Rich Artist Only;" actor and director in the IC Players drama troupe; and winner of the 2000 Perialas Persuasive Speech Prize, Matt also spent a semester at Singapore's Nanyang Technological University to study International and Intercultural Communications.

Today, Matt works as an independent radio and film producer. He is Secretary to the Board for AIR and Administrator of Murray Street Productions in New York City. There, he's marketed NPR shows such as "DNA Files" and "Pulse of the Planet" and has assisted in the production of "Jazz From Lincoln Center," "Jazz Profiles," and "Honky Tonks, Hymns and the Blues." Matt is also involved in his first Film Feature, "Low Cool," which is slated for a December 2003 release.
