Krissy Clark's Bio

Krissy Clark -- In the spirit of all good public radio producer bios, Krissy Clark will start hers with a childhood story about her radio roots. As a young girl, she realized her initials -- KSWC -- would make perfect call letters. She later revised that to KRAB -- the only "crustacean in the nation." As the Assistant Editor at Weekend America, she still maintains her unique sense of humor, with a soft-spot for stories where people are funny without trying to be. (She tries to avoid corny jokes now.)

Krissy earned her B.A. from Yale College where she studied the humanities and mastered the fine art of Bulgarian folk singing. She started making radio at Free Radio Santa Cruz -- a pirate station in Northern California, and experimented with community radio in the Bay Area. She learned a lot, but grew restless. After landing a job as a newscaster and Associate Producer at the well-known environmental program, Radio High Country News, she moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, where she worked as a host and reporter at the local NPR affiliate station. She has produced several award winning features and documentaries -- including On the trail of the lynx, which won an NFCB Golden Reel award, and Atomic Tales: Living with the bomb in the American West, which won a Best Documentary award by the Public Radio News Directors Inc.
