AIR @ Third Coast Conference 2012

Two years is a long time!  We couldn't be more excited about the Third Coast Conference that's coming together in Evanston, IL October 5 - 7.  Get out your calendar and prepare to mark it up with a few choice bits we've got planned to help some of you get to the conference and, once there, make the most of it! AIRster Emily Botein is producing AIR's most popular conference session… it's year #6 for our “show and tell” of what goes on behind the scenes between a producer pitching a story and a prospective editor. Emily's invited editors from national shows Marketplace, Snap Judgment, and This American Life; network editors from NPR and the BBC; a first-timer from KCRW’s Independent Producer’s Project and [place holder]. She's looking for 12 pitchers - whether a seasoned vet or just getting started - to step up to the plate. AIR's New Voices Scholarships

AIR's New Voices scholarships were established 3 years ago with funding from CPB and NEA to support professional development for minority producers working independently or at a public media station. Our goal is to broaden the pipeline for a new generation of diverse talent – people who show potential to help make public media more reflective of the American public. Many of our alumni found ripe opportunities to further develop their talents, expand their professional relationships and understanding of the field, and strengthen their voice. Will you be one of the 20 we choose this year?  

We'll provide up to $1500 to each individual chosen. The funds must be used to offset costs associated with Third Coast transportation, meals, hotel, and registration. For more information and to apply, visit:

AIR Ambassador Stipends
[DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 23 @ 5pm PT]
Calling AIR Ambassadors! If you’re planning to go to the conference, we offer a $150 stipend to the first 5 AIR members with confirmed conference registrations interested in serving as an AIR ambassador at Third Coast. It's a first-come-first-serve opportunity, so get a move on now to register for the conference by going here: http://www.thirdcoastfestival.org/happenings/conference.  In exchange for your stipend, As an AIR Ambassador, you will be required to do three things:  1) attend the opening speed meet on Friday at 3 - 4:30 pm; 2) do a shift at the AIR conference table; and 3)  communicate back to AIR’s membership via live tweets and/or a post to the AIRdaily detailing your experience and take-aways from the conference.
