Zing that Wiki
Like mad scientists working behind the curtain, we've been tinkering for months on our Awards and Fellowship directories to convert them into wikis. These one-of-a-kind resources have been openly available in static form on airmedia.org for more than a decade. We believe that by "wikifying," we'll benefit from the collective contributions from you and others who visit the site and use the resources. Dive in.
Speaking of mad scientists, Jessica Clark, researcher director at American University's Center for Social Media and AIR Executive Director Sue Schardt present a new, thought provoking paradigm for ascribing value to public media in the 2.0 world — and you may not know it, but your zing is showing.

Reimagining Public Media Through the Makers Quest 2.0
Jessica Clark
Director, Future of Public Media Project, Center for Social Media, American University
Sue Schardt
Executive Director, Association of Independents in Radio, Inc.
Executive Summary:
Public media projects are moving from familiar broadcast forms to multiplatform models that are often more open and participatory. In light of this, how can we best evaluate their impact? And what elements of impact are most salient in the public media context, in which mission is as central as sustainability or reach? This paper sets out to examine these questions through the lens of a particular set of projects designed to demonstrate how "public radio" can be transformed into "public media."

Cool Tool: Issuu
Issuu, pronounced "issue," is the online publishing service we used to publish our "Zing" article. Take your PDF documents (think supplemental text and visuals for your radio or media project) and convert them into visually stunning interactive publications that can be embedded on your website or blog. Don't have a project of your own that you want to publish? That's OK. Go to Issuu and peruse hundreds of cool publishing projects, just as you would at a newsstand (complete with a cool animation of pages flipping).
